Remembering Day
Jesus said:"Blessed are they who mourn, for I will bring them comfort"
Matthew 5: 4
Each year - usually the first Saturday in June - the Seekers and Searchers group organise a day for families and friends who have been bereaved within the last 2 years to come together for a special service and the sharing of thougths as they remember their loved ones.
Within the service there is always time set apart to quietly reflect and to participate in an act of remembrance. Over the past years this has taken the form of lighting candles, placing memory stones in the reflective fountain, writing cards and hanging them on the memory tree and writing thoughts on memory cards and placing them in a basket at the prayer desk.
We only send a personal invitation out for the first two years. However, if you have been bereaved for more than 2 years then please still feel free to come along and join us on the first Saturday of June every year at 1pm. It would be helpful if you contacted Rev Kay beforehand so that we have an idea of numbers for lunch afterwards, but don't let that stop you coming if you forget, just turn up. Also feel free to contact Rev Kay if you have been bereaved but live outside the parish - therefore you won't have been contacted about this service - but would like to come along to one of our services.
